Over 2500 Junior Athletes To Race In The 2012 Mercer Lake Sprints

West Windsor, NJ – Over 2500 High School athletes are scheduled to race in the 2012 Mercer Lake Sprints which will be held on April 20 and 21, 2012, on Mercer Lake in the Richard J. Coffee Mercer County Park. This year 60 teams including teams from California, Florida and England will descend on the lake for the first major rowing regatta of the 2012 season to be held on Mercer Lake. There will be 36 different events contested during the Regatta which will begin at 5:00 pm of Friday and continue all day on Saturday. The local area will be represented by teams from the Hun School, Lawrenceville School and the Mercer Junior Rowing Club.
“The Princeton National Rowing Association is pleased to host the Mercer Lake Sprints again this year” said Kristopher Grudt, Executive Director of the Princeton National Rowing Association. “The Mercer Lake rowing venue in Mercer County Park is recognized as one of the premiere rowing venues in the country and this regatta provides an opportunity for the junior athletes to compete on the race course that will host the N.C.A.A. Women’s Rowing Championship and the United States Olympic Rowing Team Trial events in May and June this year. The 2012 Mercer Lake Sprints has gone international and bi-coastal with teams from England’s Westminster School and Long Beach, California scheduled to compete. We are expecting about 10,000 athletes, coaches and spectators to visit Mercer County Park during the regatta.”
