Lawrenceville Boys and Peddie Girls Win MAPL League Championships

Caspersen Rowing Center, West Windsor, New Jersey – Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) members, Blair Academy, Hun School, Lawrenceville School and Peddie School, raced on the Mercer Lake rowing course on  Saturday, April 24, 2010 to determine their league championship. In the boy’s competition, Lawrenceville won the Varsity 4 and Third Varsity 4+ and finished second Second Varsity 4+ and Novice 8+ to capture the league crown.  Hun took second in the league, winning the Second Varsity 4+ along the way. Blair came in third in the points total. While finishing fourth in the league competition, Peddie easily won the Novice 8+ race.

On the girls side, Hun and Peddie were tied in the championship points competition going into the Varsity 4+ race.  Earlier in the season Hun had defeated Peddie to capture the Johnson-Perry Cup. This time the results were reversed but it took a very close examination of the photo finish for the coaches to agree that Peddie won the Varsity 4+ by the length of a bow ball. By winning the Varsity 4+ Peddie won the MAPL league trophy followed by Hun, Lawrenceville and Blair.
