Patagonia Order – Mercer Athletes Only

Hi Everyone!

The order form for the (optional) Mercer Patagonia gear order is now available!

These items are limited to current Mercer athletes (Juniors and Masters) only – not for friends and family.

Forms can be printed HERE to complete your order.

Please note there are two pages, with the total price for the entire order included on the second page.

Order forms and payment (cash or check only) must be returned to Coach Jules by 6:30pm, Friday 2nd October.

Checks can be made payable to Princeton National Rowing Association.

Late orders can not be accepted, nor can orders be submitted to Coach Jules without payment.

  • Due to no availability of women’s sweatpants styles, there has been an alternative style selected.
  • All Patagonia clothing is optional.

JV/Novice Team At Home Workouts – Week Starting Monday 14 September

Hi JV and Novice Teams!

Please complete the following three workouts for the days you are at home.

(There will be a new blog posted each Monday by 4pm of workouts for the week).

The link to the google sheet that you enter your information in is HERE.

Enter your mileage for the 40′ jog for workout 1 on the google sheet, enter your mileage for the 45′ cross training for workout 2 on the google sheet and enter your mileage for the 2 x 20′ workouts for workout 3.

Workout 1

  1. Stretch / Dynamic warm up for 5 minutes
  2. 40 min (40′) jog: 4 min (4′) @ 60%, 1 min (1′) @ 75%
  3. 10 min (10′) body/ab circuit, 50 seconds (50″) on, 10 seconds off (50″)
    1. Sit ups
    2. Squats
    3. Jumping Jacks
    4. Right side lunges
    5. Left side lunges
    6. Plank hold
    7. V Hold
    8. Mummies
    9. Jumpies
    10. Squat extensions

Workout 2

  1. Stretch / Dynamic warm up for 5 minutes
  2. 45′ cross training (bike/swimming/running/erging/basketball/something fun!)
  3. 10′ body/ab circuit (as above, or pick your own!)

 

Workout 3

  1. Stretch / Dynamic warm up for 5 minutes
  2. 20′ of running @ 70%
  3. 20′ of running: 1′ on @ 80%, 1′ “off” @ 60%/jogging
  4. 10′ body/ab circuit (as above, or pick your own!)

Regatta Sport Order – Arrived!

Summer Learn-to-Row Camp: Coaches Needed!

Hi Mercer Team!

We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible rowers and coxswains to coach the Summer Learn-to-Row Camps for 2020. You will need to teach the basics of the rowing stroke on land and on the erg, lead circuits/land work out and most importantly create a fun and encouraging environment to introduce campers to the sport. 

There are five week long sessions:

Session 1: June 22 – 26

Session 2: July 13 – 17

Session 3: July 20 – 24

Session 4: July 27 – 31

Session 5: August 10 – 14

Each camp runs from 9am – 12pm, Monday through Friday. There will be a short, mandatory coaches meeting for both Head and Assistant Coaches before camp each day. 

Head Coaches (~ 8 per week) will lead practice from the launch or run practice on land. To be a Head Coach, you must be 18 years of age or older, you must have a Boating Safety Certificate (see below), must have completed Senior Year of High School, it is highly recommended to have CPR/First Aid, and have at least 2 years of rowing/coxing experience. Head Coaches will be responsible for on water coaching of one 8+ as well as land warmup, erg technique and on land workouts/circuits. Head Coaches are paid $350 per week. 

Please note there is a Boating Safety Certificate course being run at the Boat House on Monday 30 March and Tuesday 31 March from 6:30pm – 10pm. You must attend both evenings to receive your boating safety certificate. There is a $75 fee for this and you must email Hilary to register for this (hgehman@rowpnra.org). Please complete your registration in the link below for coaching even if you need to complete the Boating Safety course.

Assistant Coaches (~25 per week) will provide help and encouragement as experienced rowers/coxes in the boats that go out. To be an Assistant Coach  you must have a full season of rowing/coxing experience. Assistant Coaches will assist with on land warm up, erg technique and on land workouts/circuits and be rowing/coxing the 8+ that goes out. Assistant Coaches are paid $30 per day and assistant coaches under the age of 16 will be compensated with volunteer hours. 

There will also be a mandatory orientation session prior to the camps for all Head and Assistant Coaches. Within the registration link below there is a section to select the preferred time/date. Please note only one orientation session will run and it will be the time/date that is most popular.

Regatta Sport Order – Update

Hi All

The final part of the Regatta Sport order (jackets) are due to arrive tomorrow (Tuesday 3 December).

Coach Jules will hand out the jackets to the athletes before practice from Wednesday onwards.

If your athlete has ordered a jacket (or any other Regatta Sport/Patagonia item) but is not doing winter training, please email Coach Jules at jhowarth@rowpnra.org to arrange a time for collection from the Boat House!

Mercer Fall Classic Race Day Information

Hello Everyone!

On Sunday the Mercer Juniors are competing at the Mercer Fall Classic.  This race is at home on Sunday.

Please check HERE for line ups and arrival times.

There are two races on Sunday – a head race around the lake in the morning, and then a 2km race in the afternoon. There is additional information on Regatta Central but the athletes will be fully informed by their Coaches on how the day will run.

Please ensure you are in racing uni’s (Varsity) or tee shirts (Novices) and bring additional clothes in case there is any change in the weather. Please bring food for the break and your reusable water bottle.

An additional reminder: there will be a whole team photo in uniform (racing uni’s (Varsity) or tee shirts (Novices)) on MONDAY 4 November at practice. Please wear your uniforms!

Please note we are also expecting the Regatta Sport orders (excluding the jackets) to arrive on Monday, so please see Coach Jules for your items on Monday!

Mercer Practices – This Weekend (10/18, 10/19, 10/20)
